Beaver Scouts are our youngest members; we meet for an hour and a quarter per week. Comprising boys and girls, they enjoy all that Scouting has to offer; being introduced to outdoor activities, new life skills and the opportunity to be creative, explore their local community and experience the excitement of a Beaver Scout Sleepover with their friends. They will go on to develop these life-skills as they progress through the Scout Movement

The Beaver Colony is the first and youngest section of the Scout Group. Beaver Scouts are young people aged between 6 and 8 years old.
Group
Structure
A Beaver section is called a "Colony". Hathersage Scout Group has two Beaver colonies. A colony is organised into smaller groups called "Lodges". Lodges can be used in a number of ways to facilitate the organisation of the Beaver Scout Colony.

The 1st Hathersage Beavers meet on Tuesday evenings at 6.15pm until 7.30pm. The 1st Bradwell Beaver Group, a satellite group of Hathersage, meet at 4.30pm until 5.30pm on Fridays.
Group
Activities
During their time in the Colony, Beaver Scouts will get a chance to try a wide range of different activities as well as going on trips, days out, and on sleepovers. Participation rather than meeting set standards is the key approach, and there are a range of challenge awards and badges available that Beaver Scouts can gain during their time in the section to recognise their achievements.
Beaver Uniform
Beaver Scouts wear a turquoise sweatshirt with a Group scarf (called a necker) and a maroon woggle. The locations of where the badges are positioned on the uniform is shown below:
The Beaver Scout Promise
I promise to do my best;
To be kind and helpful;
And to love God.

Or
The Beaver Meeting
Every week is different, but we always start our sessions with a welcome. For this, we "build a dam", when we all get into a circle and sing a short song, which goes:

Leader: 1,2,3, who are we?
Beavers: We are Beaver Scouts can't you see?
B, E, A, V, E, R, S, Hello!

After this we say our promise and then the session starts!
---
At the end of the session, we gather back into the circle (building a dam) and give out badges, notices, etc. We then say the Beaver Scout Promise again and end with another rhyme:

"Goodbye Beavers; goodbye friends; goodbye Beavers and
now our meeting ends, HEY!"
(Kicking legs into the air on "Hey")

Then it is home time...
